In Chinese, 三 or san, is a lucky number. As per the most trusted of sources, Wikipedia says, "The number 3 sounds similar to the character for "birth" and is considered a lucky number. The number 3 is significant since there are three important stages in a man’s life (birth, marriage and death)."
We're going to need luck in the upcoming elections, aren't we?
But enough of the election drama–come and celebrate my Po-Po's legacy! She was a true badass–a nasty woman if you will–who made marvelous memories in her kitchen. I'm here to tell her story through the homestyle Sichuan food she used to cook all the time. Join me for another installment of Po-Po's Feast. Come hungry.
