Breakfast in Taiwan is sublime. Plates upon plates of delicious and simple food, unencumbered by rules or fancy tableware. It's traditionally eaten at street stalls or curbside so that one's morning dash to work gets better and greasier. It's not the healthiest of breakfasts, but necessary for the soul.
Po-Po always got down with it whenever we were in Taiwan together. But at home, she'd make her own soy milk (a must for Taiwanese brekkie) almost weekly, using beans she'd bring back from Taipei.
NYC sorely lacks proper Taiwanese breakfast. Here's my attempt to recreate one of my favorite meals of all time. We might not have mopeds zipping by or rickety tables to balance our food on, but we'll have each other.
